On the way to my wife's parents house, we headed a banging when we went over hilltops and holes in the road on the passenger rear side of the car. I put to down to a md flap hitting the road.

I later thought we don't have mud flaps on our car!

as we got on to the motorway the car became decidedly deep and throaty. My wife said perhaps the exhaust was gone.

She was right.
where the small tube joins the big cylinder big there was a distinct lack of joinage.
